Microbiology is an important core course required for Biology major in higher education institutions, adopting bilingual teaching can keep up with the development trends and cutting-edge dynamics of the discipline, which is of great significance for improving students' professional English vocabulary learning and application abilities, enhancing their employment competitiveness, and so on. The bilingual Microbiology course was taken as an example, the bilingual teaching model were explored from five aspects: reasonable allocation of bilingual teaching ratio, formation of high-level and high-quality teaching staff team, selection of suitable bilingual auxiliary teaching materials, optimization of teaching methods and means, and improvement of bilingual teaching assessment system, and summarizing its practical experience. The purpose was to fully leverage the role of bilingual teaching in cultivating high-quality talents in applied universities, and provide references for establishing bilingual teaching methods suitable for the characteristics of applied universities.
