Reform of teaching model for elective courses in Plant Protection major under the background of new agricultural science

In order to meet the new requirements for the cultivation of agricultural and forestry talents under the background of the construction of new agricultural science, the elective course Plant Virology in the field of Plant Protection major was taken as the research object, and corresponding countermeasures and suggestions were proposed for the current situation of some students’ learning motivation needing to be further enhanced, the teaching method needing further optimization, the teaching method needing further optimization, the systematic and advanced nature of teaching content needing to be further improved, and the experimental operation projects needing to be further updated in the teaching of this elective course. Specifically, it including strengthening ideological and political education in the curriculum and stimulating endogenous motivation; Exploring high-quality resources and broaden learning channels; Refactoring the knowledge framework to highlight high levels and challenges; Expanding experimental projects and enrich teaching practicality. Practice had shown that this course deeply implements the student-centered teaching philosophy, and had achieved good results in ideological and political guidance, information empowerment, knowledge reconstruction, and experimental project expansion, the teaching quality had been effectively improved. Provided references for further consolidating the experimental project expansion important role of professional elective courses in the process of cultivating new agricultural talents.
