Analysis on the countermeasures for improving grain production capacity in Hefei City

This paper systematically analyzes the basic conditions for improving grain production capacity in Hefei City, Anhui Province, the key links that need focused attention, and puts forward targeted countermeasures. The research shows that the grain sown area in Hefei has increased by 7.0% in 10 years (2014-2024), reaching 527 000 hm2 in 2023, and the total output has remained stable at around 3 million tons. Hefei has development advantages such as the construction of high-standard farmland, technological innovation empowerment, and a solid foundation in the processing industry. The key links requiring focused attention include the plow layer, soil nutrients, scientific and technological support capacity, variety homogenization, integration of agricultural machinery and agronomy, meteorological disaster risks, and low grain-growing benefits. To this end, it is necessary to promote the stable increase of grain production through comprehensive measures, including optimizing the layout of grain production to tap the potential of grain production, stabilizing the grain sown area to improve cultivated land quality, strengthening scientific and technological innovation and digital transformation to develop and breed new varieties and new technologies, fostering business entities to improve the socialized service system, enhancing grain brand building to boost market competitiveness, and improving the benefit guarantee mechanism to strengthen the risk resistance capacity of grain production. This paper provides a reference for the development of the grain industry in urban-type areas.
