Three-dimensional cultivation technology of Carya illinoinensis,Artemisia argyi and Nelumbo nucifera in riverine small watersheds

To explore a planting model that could realize the efficient utilization of riverine small watersheds and the synergistic improvement of multiple benefits, this study took the areas on both sides of Pugou in Tianqi Village, Sangying Town, Taihe County, Fuyang City, Anhui Province as the implementation site (33°32′39″ N, 115°36′26″ E), where the site conditions were suitable for the three-dimensional cultivation of Carya illinoinensis, Artemisia argyi and Nelumbo nucifera. Based on this, the study used Carya illinoinensis (woody oil crop), Artemisia argyi (aromatic plant/traditional Chinese medicinal material) and Nelumbo nucifera (aquatic plant) as test materials, and constructed a new three-dimensional compound cultivation model of “woody oil crop + aromatic plant + aquatic plant”. It carried out systematic research on core technologies including variety selection, site selection and soil preparation, key cultivation and management, as well as integrated pest and disease control. The suitable varieties of each species, site adaptation parameters, key points of cultivation and tending management, and the pest and disease control system featuring “prevention first and integrated management” were clarified. This study aimed to verify the feasibility of this compound cultivation system, maximize the improvement of space utilization efficiency, achieve the synergistic enhancement of economic, social and ecological benefits, and provide a reference for the optimization of planting structure in similar river small watersheds and regions with comparable site conditions.
