This study used Convallaria keiskei collected from Kunyu Mountain in Yantai City, Shandong Province as the material, to determine its phenological period, annual growth volume and seed weight per thousand grains. It also explored the effects of soaking seed temperature (30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 ℃), environmental temperature (10, 15, 20, 25, and 30 ℃) and exogenous gibberellin (50, 100, 150, 200, and 250 mg/L) treatments on seed germination, as well as the influence of substrates [sand, peat, peat: perlite (1∶1), sand∶peat∶perlite (1∶1∶1), garden soil] and seasons (spring, autumn) on the divisional propagation of Convallaria keiskei. The results showed that the Convallaria keiskei emerged from the ground in a conical shape in early April, entered the leaf expansion period in mid-late April, and entered the flowering period in early May. The flowering period of a single flower lasts for 3 to 4 days, and the flowering period of a single plant lasts for approximately 10 days, while the flowering period of the entire group of plants lasts for 20 days. The growth of the Convallaria keiskei showed a “slow-fast-slow” pattern. The growth was faster in April, and the seed weight per thousand grains was 24.372 g. The germination rate, germination potential and germination index of seeds treated at a soaking temperature of 40 ℃ were the highest, at 44.01%, 28.63%, and 2.32 respectively; the germination rate, germination potential and germination index were the highest under the cultivation temperature of 25 ℃ treatment, which were 35.21%, 23.96%, and 2.13 respectively; the germination rate, germination potential and germination index were the highest under the gibberellin concentration of 100 mg/L treatment, which were 49.01%, 30.10%, and 2.82 respectively. Under the sand∶peat∶perlite (1∶1∶1) treatment, the root initiation rate of the Convallaria keiskei was the highest (89%), and the root length was the longest (8.20 cm); the survival rate of Convallaria keiskei division propagation in autumn was the highest (92%). This article provides a reference for the wide-scale introduction and cultivation of Convallaria keiskei, as well as its application and promotion in urban green spaces and courtyard landscapes.
